Böker Plus P-51 Damast Pocket Knife

★★★★★ 4,8 147 reviews Heureka verified
Timeless engineering combined with historical heritage! Inspired by a true aviation classic, the Böker Plus P-51 Damast by Steve Kelly is a design knife with exceptional character. Based on the North American P-51 Mustang, the knife reflects the material, shape, and color of the fighter aircraft from the 1940s, creating an almost faithful replica of its historic inspiration. At the heart of the Böker Plus P-51 Damast is a distinctive blade made from 80-layer Damascus steel, forged by Chad Nichols in the USA and composed of original parts from a historic fighter aircraft. Viewed from the side, the blade visually recalls the historic fighter-bomber. For example, the thumb hole resembles the plexiglass cockpit canopy that gave the pilot an ideal all-round view. Another highlight is the titanium handle, which precisely replicates the rivets of the aircraft’s light-metal bodywork. Particularly striking is the blue pivot screw with the silver star of the US Army, as well as the red anodized screws inspired by the color scheme of the tail rudder. Exceptional reliability is ensured by the titanium frame lock with a stainless steel insert, which holds the blade securely in place even during demanding work. Despite its bold lines, the handle sits comfortably in the hand thanks to ergonomic cutouts. The solid titanium clip allows tip-up (r) carry, while the lanyard hole provides additional attachment options. A must-have for all knife collectors and fans of historic aircraft. Supplied with a high-quality nylon pouch for storage.

Detailed product description

Böker Plus P-51 Damast Pocket Knife.

Timeless engineering combined with historic experience! Inspired by a true classic of the skies, Böker Plus presents the P-51 Damast by Steve Kelly as a design knife with extraordinary character. Based on the North American P-51 Mustang, the knife adopts the material, shape, and color of the 1940s fighter aircraft, creating an almost identical impression of its historic model.

Between 1940 and 1948, around 15,800 examples of this low-wing aircraft were produced in various versions, making it one of the most frequently built military aircraft in the world to this day. The P-51 D is the most common series, with nearly 8,000 units. The special features of the P-51 Mustang, whose “P” stands for Pursuit, lie in its aerodynamic all-metal construction with characteristic flush rivets, which together with the powerful Packard Merlin V-1650 engine enabled a top speed of 700 km/h and an exceptional range of up to 3,300 km. These achievements were considered groundbreaking at the time and ultimately gave the United States Army Air Forces air superiority during World War II.

The armament of the single-engine propeller aircraft included six 0.50 Browning MG53-2 machine guns in the wings, as well as the ability to carry ten 12.7 cm rockets or bombs weighing up to 900 kg. Last but not least, it was the unmistakable lines of the P-51 Mustang that inspired Böker’s development department to create this exciting project. The goal was to transfer the design language and performance of the fighter aircraft to a knife without compromising elegance and practicality.

At the heart of the Böker Plus P-51 Damast is its striking spearpoint blade made from 80-layer Damascus steel, forged by Chad Nichols in the USA and composed of original parts from a historic fighter aircraft. From the side view, the blade has clear visual echoes of the historic fighter-bomber. The thumb hole resembles the plexiglass cockpit canopy that gave the pilot ideal visibility in all directions.

Another highlight is the titanium handle, which captures the riveted light-metal panels in impressive detail. Particularly striking is the blue blade pivot screw bearing the silver star of the US Army, along with the red anodized screws inspired by the color of the tail rudder. The titanium frame lock with stainless steel insert promises maximum reliability, holding the blade securely in place even during demanding work. Despite its clean lines, the handle is comfortable to hold thanks to ergonomic cutouts. The titanium clip is milled from solid material and allows tip-up (r) carry, while the lanyard hole offers additional attachment options. A must-have for all knife collectors and fans of historic aircraft. Supplied with a high-quality nylon pouch for storage. Overall length 19.3 cm. Blade length 8.5 cm. Thickness 3.5 mm. Weight 108 g.
