Since its founding more than 158 years ago, the organization has officially borne the name German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS). Today, it is one of the most modern and professional maritime rescue services in the world. Its primary mission is the fast and effective rescue of human lives. In close cooperation with these maritime professionals, Böker experts developed the Böker Plus Seenotretter 1, a tool that meets the demanding requirements of the open sea. It is a knife designed for both professional and private users at sea and inland, or for anyone who frequently works with ropes. It is made entirely of stainless steel. The main blade features a partially serrated edge for cutting ropes and harnesses. The marlinspike for undoing knots includes an eyelet and a bottle opener. The front handle scale is stamped with the Hanseatic cross, the logo of the maritime rescuers.
