Our blades, made from American CPM 3-V steel, are highly tough. CPM 3-V is a tool steel resistant to breakage and overall wear. CPM 3V is a tool steel produced using a powder metallurgy process with a uniform microstructure. Its chemical composition gives it exceptional toughness, resistance to chipping, and very good wear resistance. CPM 3V offers greater toughness than, for example, D2. The standard hardness of CPM 3V ranges from 58 to 60 HRC. CPM 3V often replaces highly alloyed tool steels in operations where there are chronic problems with tool cracking or breakage. Its chemical composition reduces corrosion resistance, so knives made from this steel should have a protective surface finish, or their owner must pay increased attention and care for the knife regularly.
