The Cold Steel SRK (Survival Rescue Knife) has been the flagship of our line for more than 25 years. A knife chosen by many in the military, it remains to this day the standard fixed blade of Navy SEAL units during BUDS training. When we asked custom knifemaker Andrew Demko to develop a top-tier tactical folding knife for military use, he drew inspiration from our SRK! The SR1 features Andrew’s signature minimalist style, with no frills or embellishments, just a purely functional and practical design. The SR1 and the new SR1 Tanto are built to work. Both are made from premium American CPM-S35VN powdered steel and are high-performance workhorses designed for the harshest and most unforgiving environments. A good blade needs a good handle, so the SR1 handle is made from premium G-10 with heat-treated steel liners. With a coarse-textured surface for a secure grip even in cold and wet conditions, and expertly contoured for a comfortable and reliable hold even while wearing heavy gloves. For greater reliability and peace of mind, we equipped the SR1 with our Tri-Ad locking mechanism – proven over time to withstand even the worst abuse, with unmatched resistance to shock and impact – making this knife an ideal choice as a survival rescue blade.
