Extrema Ratio developed the first knife in a new production line called CONTACT. It features a spear-point blade profile, flat grind, and diamond-shaped geometry. It has a lower guard branch that protects the hand from accidental cuts, upper jimping for a better grip, a concave fuller running along the entire blade length, and a generous blade thickness (6.30 mm). All these details make Contact the big brother of the now famous Requiem, redesigned in its proportions and in some technical features. It is the first in a new line of multi-purpose knives. The blade is made of Böhler N690 steel with a hardness of 58 HRC and a chemical polishing finish for the Black version. All other production colors feature a Stone Washed blade finish. The handle is still made of Forprene. It is no longer mounted using side screws, but thanks to a truncated cone-shaped stainless steel tang, which is screwed from the bottom and fits into a special seat, making it solidly fixed. In this way, the knife is well balanced. The sheath is minimalist; most of the fabric has been cut away; it has a Level 2 retention system that recalls the style of the model that inspired it. The main shell is injection-molded from impact-resistant nylon. The secondary retention system is reversible for ambidextrous users. The blade is guided into the sheath thanks to its tapered shape, which is well suited for quick insertion and draw. To draw the blade, pressure on the trigger is sufficient, releasing the lock that securely holds it in the sheath. In the horizontal slots of the sheath, a system has been added that fixes the blade to prevent rattling when stored inside. The back of the nylon sheath is MOLLE compatible. The textile part is reduced to a minimum and features a classic two-button safety strap with a belt loop and a thigh strap with rubber reinforcement against rotation. Extrema Ratio focuses on this new line by minimizing the thickness and size of the knife, while not compromising on structural strength and safety features.
