Extrema Ratio developed the first knife in its new production line called CONTACT. It features a spear-point blade profile, flat grind, and diamond geometry. It has a lower guard branch that protects the hand from accidental cuts, upper jimping for a better grip, a concave fuller running along the entire length of the blade, and a generous blade thickness (6.30 mm). All of these details make the Contact the older brother of the now famous Requiem, redesigned in its proportions and in some technical features. It is the first in a new range of multi-purpose knives. The blade is made from Böhler N690 steel with a hardness of 58 HRC and a chemical polishing finish for the Black version. All other colors currently in production feature a Stone Washed blade finish. The handle remains in Forprene. It is no longer assembled using side screws, but thanks to a truncated cone-shaped stainless steel tang that is screwed from the bottom and fits into a special seat, making it solid and secure. In this way, the knife is well balanced. The sheath is minimalist; most of the fabric has been removed; it has a Level 2 retention system that recalls the style of the model that inspired it. The main shell is injection-molded from impact-resistant nylon. The secondary retention system is reversible for ambidextrous users. The blade is guided into the sheath thanks to its tapered shape, which is well suited for quick insertion and extraction of the blade. To draw the blade, simple pressure on the trigger is enough to release the lock that securely holds it in the sheath. A system has been added in the horizontal slots of the shell to stabilize the blade and prevent shaking when stored inside. The back of the nylon sheath is MOLLE-compatible. The textile section has been reduced to a minimum and includes a classic two-button safety strap with a belt loop and a thigh strap with rubber reinforcement to prevent rotation. Extrema Ratio focuses this new line on minimizing the knife’s thickness and size, without compromising structural strength and safety features.
