Our story begins in Vietnam, where members of a highly classified U.S. special operations unit—known as MACV-SOG—carried a unique covert knife into the jungle on secret missions. A few years later, in 1986, that knife inspired a young designer named Spencer Frazer to found SOG Specialty Knives. His mission: to reproduce the original SOG Bowie knife and pay tribute to the special operations unit that created it. It features shaped anodized aluminum handles with textured GRN inserts for comfort and grip, a proven back lock mechanism for secure blade lockup, and a fast-opening knife with a 7Cr15 stainless steel blade. The blade is accessed via SAT (SOG Assisted Technology), so a simple push on the thumb stud deploys the blade and locks it open, ready for action.
