Detailed product description

Marto Templar armor with a cross on the chest.

Although the origins of combat armor date back to the Egyptian period, Greek and Roman medieval armor are among the best known. Made of steel or iron plates joined together with hooks and rivets, and secured to the warrior with straps and buckles, it began to be used in Europe by both infantry and cavalry. In the 14th and 15th centuries, it reached its peak of perfection. In the mid-16th century, it evolved into luxurious attire for the warrior, adorned with the beauty of sculptural art and metalworking. In the 17th century, there was a significant rise in firearms, and from the 18th century onward armor was used only as decoration in castles, palaces, and museums.

One of the largest and richest collections of weapons in the world is kept in the Royal Armoury of Madrid, containing pieces mainly from the time of Charles I in the 16th century, from which Marto draws its inspiration and reproduces them in various sizes and scales. The materials used are very similar to the originals: iron and steel are handcrafted, and the brocades imitate the fabrics of the period.

Size 200 cm.
