Spyderco Enuff 2 FB31SBL2K390 Fixed Blade Knife
Detailed product description
Spyderco Enuff 2 FB31SBL2K390 Fixed Blade Knife.
There is a significant difference between occasional knife users and those who rely on a blade for serious cutting work. Experienced users know that for most cutting tasks, the closer the material being cut is to the “heel” of the blade (the part of the sharpened edge closest to the handle), the more leverage and control they will have. As a knife blade gets longer, the leverage of its length can actually work against the force of the user’s hand, making it harder to apply cutting pressure to the distal portion of the edge. Unless the blade offers enough length and mass to serve as a chopping tool, extra length does not necessarily provide higher performance.
So how much blade is enough? Spyderco’s original answer to that question was the Enuff series—a family of three fixed-blade designs that shared a common handle, overall size, and sheath design, but offered distinctly different blade styles. Designed by Spyderco co-founder Sal Glesser and introduced in 2013, the Enuff family included clip-point, leaf-shaped, and sheepsfoot versions. All three blades were 2.75 inches (70 mm) long and made from solid VG-10 stainless steel with a thickness of 4 mm (0.157 inches). The clip-point and leaf-shaped blades were plain edged and full-flat ground to provide exceptional edge geometry for precise cutting and pointed utility. The Enuff sheepsfoot was saber-ground and featured a straight SpyderEdge cutting edge. Its carefully rounded profile and aggressive fully serrated edge created a rescue-style blade ideal for safely cutting seat belts, webbing, rope, and similar high-stress materials during a critical incident. At the same time, the distal portion of the edge included a subtle but functional point for detail work.
Members of the Enuff family shared an identical handle profile, allowing them to use the same precision-molded scales made from durable fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN). Attached to the knives’ skeletonized tangs with stainless Torx hardware, the handles were shaped to provide a secure in-hand grip and included Spyderco’s signature Bi-Directional Texturing pattern—a series of opposing angled steps radiating from the center of the handle that ensure excellent traction and a slip-resistant grip. The refined, ergonomic handle shape sits comfortably in the hand and provides both a functional guard to prevent forward movement and a gently curved butt for enhanced control during pulling cuts and while drawing the knife from its sheath. A generously sized lanyard hole also allowed easy attachment of a fob or lanyard for added security.
Because sheepsfoot blades are favorite cutting tools among many water sports enthusiasts, in 2013 Spyderco introduced a sheepsfoot Enuff version made from H-1 steel—a nitrogen-based blade material that is extremely corrosion resistant. The handle scales were also molded in bright yellow for easy visibility in and around water. Known as the Enuff Salt, it quickly became popular among divers and sailors. And like the other knives in the Salt series, its blade steel transitioned from H-1 to H-2 in 2022.
All Enuff knives used the same injection-molded polymer sheath design, featuring two “ears” at the mouth that snap around the front edges of the handle scales to hold the knife securely in place. Enuff sheaths were also equipped with Spyderco’s G-Clip attachment, which supported both belt carry and inside-the-waistband clip-style carry. The versatile G-Clip design also allowed Enuff sheaths to be configured for vertical, horizontal, or diagonally canted carry positions. Because the sheaths were assembled with eyelets instead of permanent rivets, the G-Clip could also be removed completely and the sheaths tied to webbing, flotation gear, or other platforms using zip ties or paracord.
Despite the undeniable logic of the Enuff series design concept, according to some of our customers, “Enuff wasn’t always enough.” They liked the handle design and the extreme cutting performance of the knives’ short blades, but felt the blades were too thick and too short for optimal versatility. Based on this feedback, Spyderco discontinued the Enuff series at the end of 2022, with the significant exception of the Enuff Salt. At the same time, Spyderco introduced a slimmer, sleeker, and longer successor—the Enuff 2.
Based on extensive customer feedback, Spyderco co-founder Sal Glesser redesigned the original Enuff fixed blade to create the longer, slimmer Enuff 2. He then supercharged the design by adding Böhler-Uddeholm K390 MICROCLEAN tool steel, known for its extreme toughness and edge retention. This expression of the Enuff 2 takes that evolution one step further with the addition of Spyderco’s aggressive SpyderEdge serration pattern. A high-performance cutting tool for tough, fibrous materials, this Enuff 2 features signature cobalt blue FRN scales and an injection-molded polymer sheath with a G-Clip mount.
When not in use, the Enuff 2 rides in an injection-molded polymer sheath reminiscent of the first-generation Enuff sheaths. The mouth of the sheath has integral “ears” that grip the front edges of the handle scales for a secure snap fit. As an added safety measure, however, the sheath is also equipped with a leather retention strap secured by a stainless steel snap. To ensure a wide range of carry options, it comes with a G-Clip mount that can be configured for belt carry with adjustable angle on either side of the body and also functions as a spring clip for inside-the-waistband carry.
