Another addition to Spyderco’s line of ultra-corrosion-resistant Salt Series knives, the C118 Saver Salt features H-1 steel. H-1 is a high-quality corrosion-resistant steel that has attracted strong interest among anglers, boaters, and divers. Why? Because it stays cutting longer before needing sharpening and is incredibly resistant to corrosion. H-1 edge retention is comparable to other high-carbon knife steels, but its most distinctive characteristic is that it is nitrogen-based rather than carbon-based. Carbon promotes rust formation when it reacts with chloride. This helps make the blade hard and keep it sharp.

Nitrogen also makes the steel hard and helps it retain an edge, but it does not react with chloride, so it cannot rust. The Sheepfoot blade of the Saver Salt has a rounded tip for cutting around inflatable boats, flesh, and in emergencies. No pointed tip means no accidental punctures. The blade has a full-flat saber grind for excellent cutting performance in and out of the water.

The oversized 14mm Spyderco Round Hole allows opening and closing even when your hands are gloved, cold, or wet. Available in black or marine yellow, the fiberglass-reinforced nylon handle features a grippy waffle-pattern texture. The ambidextrous pocket clip also includes a lanyard hole for multiple carry options.

At the beginning of 2023, Spyderco announced an ongoing change for its Salt Series. The Salt Series, originally made from H1 stainless steel, is transitioning to H2 stainless steel, which offers increased corrosion resistance.
