Rockstead Japanese SAI-T-ZDP-DP Folding Knife
Detailed product description
Rockstead Japanese SAI-T-ZDP-DP Folding Knife
In our opinion, Rockstead Knives are among the finest knives available on the market. Thanks to meticulous craftsmanship and unique designs, this semi-custom knife commands a premium price. The SAI-T-ZDP folder features ZDP-189, a mirror-polished blade, and titanium handles coated with "DLC Prism" (DLCP). The DLC Prism coating process is the same as DLC coating with a few small differences. The oven is heated to 400 degrees Celsius, achieving a surface hardness close to diamond. The coating thickness is 0.3 microns and it is used to coat the titanium handles. This model features a "Honzukuri" Tanto blade, which means both sides of the blade have a convex grind. This was created with the Japanese sword in mind, giving it a very strong blade and edge. Opening is smooth with a solid lock that securely holds the blade in place. The incredible mirror finish is achieved through heat treatment of the edge and gradual hand grinding using wet-dry sandpaper in grits 400, 600, 800, 1,200, and 2,000. This is very intensive and time-consuming, because if any scratching occurs during the process, the edge must be sent back to the previous step for refinishing. Once this is completed, the blade is sharpened for the final finish. The people at Rockstead have mastered this process to give their knives a beautiful finish and a sharp edge unlike any other. The SAI-T-ZDP comes with a black leather belt sheath with an opening to store the included Torx-style key. Each knife is individually numbered and includes a certificate of authenticity.
