Detailed product description

Rockstead RITSU-ZDP Mirror Finish Fixed Knife

The RITSU-ZDP is a modern, compact fixed blade from Rockstead Knives in Japan. It features a full tang 3.875" ZDP-189 double-convex Honzukuri blade with a mirror finish. The lightweight wood Micarta handle scales are accented by a blue titanium guard. The index-finger guard and spine provide the user with a solid and secure grip. The exceptional mirror finish is achieved through heat treatment of the edge and progressive hand sanding with wet/dry abrasive paper in grits 400, 600, 800, 1200, and 2000. This is a very intensive and time-consuming process, because if the blade is scratched at any point during it, it must be sent back to the previous step for refinishing. Once this is completed, the blade is polished for its final finish. The people at Rockstead have mastered this process to give the knife a beautiful finish and an edge unlike any other. Each knife is individually numbered and includes a certificate of authenticity. Includes a Japanese-style cloth pouch.

With proper maintenance, Rockstead knives are known to retain a sharp edge for 2–3 years.
